This unit is in great shape, and drives like new. The only thing we had to do in order to 'fix' this ELF was to replace the controller, which had quit working for some reason. We then chose to put the new controller under the floor for better airflow and access (see pictures, coming soon). Otherwise, the bike is still mostly in stock configuration as it was delivered when new.
After repairing this ELF's electronics, we added a bunch of new items to ensure whoever buys this thing is good 2 go right away! You should be able to use this thing as a regular commuter or fun bike for a year or so before a tune up (chain, brakes, etc would be required). Normal tune ups on ELFs can, in fact, be done at your LBS, and if you run into any electronic problems in the future, we will be here to help you sort them out!
The following wear items are brand new, and have recently been installed:
- tires (Schwalbe Pick-Up Performance Super Defence cargo e-bikes tires)
- tubes (thorn resistant tubes)
- brake pads/cables/housing (Avid BB7)
- battery (custom 48v 30ah battery w/battery discharge test certificate to verify real world capacity)
Tech Specs:
Top speed: 20mph
Range: 30miles no pedaling, or ~45-50+ miles with moderate pedal effort using this new battery
Solar: original panel still works, but don't know how well. Can sell the buyer a new, upgraded size solar panel at an increased cost if interested.
Cycle Analyst: upgraded to Solar firmware so you can read/record solar power input separately from motor power output (both are measured in Watts)
Motor: TDCM direct drive (mid-mounted)
Controller: Kelly KBS-X 48v
Battery: 48v, 30 freakin' amp hours !!!
Throttle: on R side of handlebars

Logistics and Stuff:
- This ELF is available for local pickup. It can also be delivered anywhere in North Carolina + beyond for an additional fee TBD depending on distance
- No warranty is expressed or implied for this bike. That being said, we will still maintain our 3 year electronic parts warranty, which in this case, includes the battery only.
- People unfamiliar with the ELF are encouraged to research them at length before scheduling a test ride! Though they do, for some, represent the future of transportation technology ... they also have a few quirks that can detract from their overall usefulness, such as lack of suspension, body idiosyncronies, and other weird little steering, chain, and electrical things you find when operating this type of 'experimental' bike car. These bikes are really wonderful for some people, especially those who have good quality roads in their area. They're not so great for people who need to go over rough roads regularly, or for people who are averse to doing their own preventative maintenance.
