JST connectors are common on many ebikes, including many of ours. JST stands for 'Japanese Solderless Terminal' and was originally designed by JST Mfg. Co. We use these terminals frequently when repairing e-bikes, and recommend them for simple repairs since they are easily probed at both ends, and are user serviceable. Waterproof, overmolded connectors are a little bit better for long term reliability, and common on most new e-bikes, but using JSTs still often makes sense, especially on repairs.
